Deep work...

Hey Reader, happy Sunday,

Last week had so many bumps and obstacles, it felt like I was riding the Coney Island Cyclone in the wayback, very last car of the coaster. (ðŸĪŠ IYKYK)

Besides political turmoil and a very sad 9/11 memorial, I also had a personal family situation throw a wrench in my plans to spend a quiet weekend staring at the changing pigment of leaves.

Instead, I'm writing you from a hospital bedside in Boston. But honestly, I couldn't be happier to be here.

Life is constant change and expansion. It's the one thing you can count on.

As an entrepreneur, the ability to adapt and go with the flow is a critical tool. This one skill could make or break a launch, signing a new client contract or a big sale.

5 years ago, my mom had a stroke, and as her part-time caregiver, I've had a LOT of opportunity to practice this in real life.

It's become a fun game of mine to find joyful moments in any scenario - no matter how difficult.

That's why I wanted to share my personal weekly ritual with you:

Sunday Deep Work

I've been doing this for over a decade and it's helped me keep my ship on course for bigger life goals, despite tumultuous waters.

👉ðŸŧ It's simple.

On Sundays, I carve out a block of time to envision and plan my week ahead.

This is quiet time for just me - offline and somewhere I feel comfortable (to the degree possible... I'll probably do this early morning with a warm cup of tea as opposed to the hospital waiting room).

I make note of any meetings and prep I'll need to do. I think about meal planning and exercise for the week. Then I schedule in some time for creative play and connection which fuels my business growth.

Even on the toughest of weeks, this little ritual helps me feel grounded and intentional about my life.

I want to create the life and business of my dreams, not feel like I'm running to catch the bus by midweek.

During this time, I also make a list of the things I'm grateful for from the week before.

This way, no matter how hard it all was, my takeaway is focused on the good things.

Some Changes & UpComing Events

Over the summer I did a massive list-clean and got rid of over 400 subscribers from my email list.

I reccommend doing this annually so you can actually be of service to the right people.

With so much change in the online marketing industry, I want to make sure the content I share with you is actually useful. And, honestly it was relieving, and I feel much more aligned.

There was a bit of a pricing shakeup with email service providers this week. I'm working on an updated comparison for you. That made me realize I want to get back to sharing actionable tools.

I'll still send an email on Tuesdays with a peek into my weekly podcast episode.

But I'm also planning to share strategies or experiences in my own business that have worked to help me earn more - such as a prompt, a post or a strategy that got good results.

These will be short and designed to inspire action.

If you know me, you know I'm a "Let's just do it right now!" kind of coach.

I teach a few free classes each month (links below) - but I'd love your input on what you want to know. After nearly 20 years in the online space, I have my guesses, but seriously, tell me what you need help with.

The biggest change is that I'm moving all of my coaching programs and communities into Skool groups. The set up is soooo much more conducive for actual connection than Facebook or any other tool I have tried.

If you're in one of my programs, you'll be getting an email from me with your invite links this week!

If you're curious about this, hit reply and I'm happy to share my thinking around this move.

What I'm Grateful For

  • My mom is going to be Ok and my sister got to enjoy her plans for a girls weekend on Nantucket
  • I'm starting 3 new client contracts this week!
  • Feeling grounded in my body despite the unrest
  • Interviewing the one and only Miki Agrawal this week (!!!!!)

I'm also just grateful to be here, writing to you.

Thanks for reading this far.

I hope you are doing ok. We are living in difficult times and it can feel impossible to be trying to run a business or promote anything, but if you compare this moment to the whole span of history - we're actually blessed to be here to co-create what comes next!

I'm cheering you on as you take steps towards your big dreams this week.

xo, Deborah

Here's the link if you're curious: JOIN ME LIVE AT 7 PM I've moved the entire coaching experience into a new community and I've eliminated the seasonal cohort "launch" model that is both outdated and extremely draining for me. Hey Reader, happy September! I love September so much. While I'm not a Virgo, I feel those back-to-school, get-yer-S#-together vibes and I'm ALL in. Personally, I'm recommitting to my exercise program this fall as well as a super-fun musical project and (fingers crossed) a DIY bathroom remodel that is easily 5 years overdue. (I promise to show a before/after pic if we actually do it) Also, I'm more fired up than ever about helping my clients make "buy-a-house" money, aka a livable working...
