[2 min read, big strategic payoff] Last winter, while seeing the tree at Rockefeller center (a timeless NYC tradition), I wandered into Tiffany’s, and something about the experience has stayed with me all year. Nobody chased me down to ask a bunch of questions about my preferences. The salesperson gave me a massive smile and a nod, like yes, you’re in the right place if you’re looking for high-quality… but then she gave me room to look around. After a few minutes, she asked what brought me in. She listened before making any recommendations. I felt welcome to explore, ask questions, and decide on my own if I’d buy anything. That’s the energy I want us to bring to selling our own work. We can be clear and available to potential clients, without being pushy or making it weird. 👉🏻 It's a practice that can shift your financial reality, and it has for me. In one lesson that I just recorded for the November Sales Accelerator, I broke down a personal sales invitation into three parts: 1. Connect to what they want. “You mentioned wanting help understanding your taxes before the end of the year…” 2. Explain how you can help. “Inside my Tax Strategy Audit, we’ll look at your 2026 numbers and consider financial plans for ‘27 with a lens on any new tax laws.” 3. Make the ask. “Would you be interested in setting up a call?” This simple 3-part invitation makes the ask personal, specific and clear. Try using this formula to invite people who have shown interest in what you do. You can guide them to learn more about your work without bothering them. Then give them room to answer, and follow up thoughtfully, if the conversation warrants that. That’s premium treatment. That’s what you’d expect in a place like Tiffany’s, where the quality of service is considered top tier. Think of your offer like a precious service that is best shared when you and your client are in alignment. Be thoughtful and respectful about their time and energy. That’s it. Leaned back, high-quality sales happen when people are given the space they need to breathe and think it over. If you try this 3-part invitation in November, I’d love to hear how it goes! And, if you have something you’re ready to sell and want support with sales strategy in November, consider this your invitation. Inside the November Sales Accelerator (which starts Monday, November 2), we're practicing sales strategy and weekly sales tasks. You’ll get personalized support with strategy, trainings, a lead tracker, and implementation tools. The cost for the entire month is $97 and we’ll meet Mondays & Thursdays at 2 p.m. ET. Once the sprint is over, you're welcome to stay if you're loving the results, or you can hang out on the free tier of the community! 👉 JOIN THE NOVEMBER SALES ACCELERATOR Let’s practice making sales invitations that feel a little more aligned, a little more spacious and a little more leaned back, so both you and your future clients can feel great about it. Envisioning an abundant season, xo, Deborah PS. If you’re already inside the Sales Studio, all you have to do to join the November Accelerator is upgrade for the month. 💓 |

If we've ever met in person Reader, or you've seen my IG stories, then you may know that hosting dinner parties at our farmhouse is one of my all time favorite things. I'm no pro, but I love trying to cook with whatever’s growing in the garden, setting the table with decorative elements and candles, gathering interesting people together and just generally celebrating community with the whole ritual of a sit-down meal. But, imagine I did all that… Then just sat down and waited for people to...
Quick question Reader, When someone asks about your work, what do you tell them? Do you default to talking about details, describing the program, the number of sessions, the process, or what’s included? I’ve caught myself doing that plenty of times. 🙋♀️ It's important to be able to showcase our work and put it into tangible (sellable 💰) terms. But beneath the surface of what you sell is something more important: What all of those details make possible. Sales psychology 101 says sell them what...
“It’s faster if I just do it myself.” I’ve said it. Don't lie to me! I know you’ve probably said it too. And in the moment, you were actually probably right. But when I asked the question to this week's podcast guest, leadership and operations coach Lauren Glynn, she offered this perspective: “Short term, it’s faster to do it yourself. Long term, you will always be doing it yourself.” Oof. While you’re writing every email, building every slide deck, preparing every contract, and answering...
