I want to help more women make money.

[TLDR - Foundations is getting a Glow-Up! My 5 pillars below]

When I first learned how to build online courses, I had just come off more than a decade of running a plant-based catering company.

To be clear: I was NOT the chef.

I was the CEO, CFO, marketing department, operations director, occasional delivery driver and person most likely to be frantically texting someone at 6am because we were short three cases of kale. 😰

But I knew that business inside and out.

So, when we closed, I decided to package up my knowledge into my first online course, Plant Powered Kitchen.

I thought:

I’ll teach people how to cook healthy meals!

I created the course. I built a YouTube channel to share simple plant-based recipes and reach more people.

And I learned something VERY quickly from my students and YouTube commenters:

Reading a recipe is not the same thing as turning on the gas and starting to cook.

People had questions I never would have anticipated.

Wait…how high should the heat be?

What if I don’t have that pan?

Is this what it’s supposed to look like?

Can I substitute this?

Did I just ruin it?

Things that seemed completely obvious after years around professional kitchens were absolutely NOT obvious to someone standing in her own kitchen trying it for the first time.

Here's why this is relevant now...

The past 3 years of coaching women through my Foundations program has taught me essentially the same lesson all over again.

Information is not implementation.

I can teach the essentials of a high-converting offer and give you a messaging formula.

I can explain why you need an email list.

I can show you how to create content that leads people to your offers.

But then you have to turn on the stove.

You have to package your expertise in YOUR way.

Eventually, you must have a hand in writing your own sales message.

It's YOU who hits send on the email.

You who posts the Reels and eventually makes the offer.

That's when those 37 questions pop up that no course can cover.

I’ve been taking notes this year on where the gaps are in my own system.

I’ve watched where my clients take off.

I’ve watched where they get stuck.

I’ve seen what they need more help implementing.

And it’s made me rethink what I want someone to actually WALK AWAY WITH after six months inside Foundations.

Because I don’t want to help women simply learn more about marketing.

I want to help more women make more money.

And based on my life experience, I believe there are five critical foundations that make that possible.

The first isn’t marketing at all.

1. Your personal foundation

Your mindset. Energy. capacity. boundaries. wellbeing.

Because I have zero interest in helping women build profitable businesses that require them to run themselves into the ground.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!

But I’ve also become increasingly clear about the other side of this:

A well-cared-for entrepreneur still needs a business that works.

And that requires four business foundations.

2. A clear, high-demand offer

❌ Not seventeen different ways people could work with you.

✅ One clear offer built around your expertise that solves a real problem for a real person → and gives you something you can confidently sell again and again.

3. Conversion messaging

❌ Not prettier or flashier words.

✅ Messaging that helps the right people recognize themselves, understand the value of your work and see why your offer is relevant to what they want right now.

4. A simple email marketing system

❌ Not another annoying weekly task.

✅ The most cost-effective way to move people from casual interest into your world, build a relationship with them, nurture potential clients and consistently make offers, without relying entirely on an algorithm to deliver your next customer.

5. A sustainable social content system

❌ NOT just a time-sucking doom-scroll.

Social content dominates the top of any client-attraction system, like it or not.

I'll help you learn to be more offline, lean into SEO and long-form content, but also yes - social media is a very speedy way to get more eyeballs on your work.

The trick is using it correctly.

✅ Social media should help the right people find you, demonstrate your expertise, tell the stories that make your work memorable, build trust, overcome objections and move people toward the next step...

That's it.

👉🏻 Offer. Messaging. Email. Content.

Four business foundations built on one strong personal foundation.

And this is becoming the new structure of Foundations.

I’m updating the program based on what I’ve learned from actually coaching women through this work.

That includes AI, too.

Because in 2026, pretending AI isn’t changing the way we market would be ridiculous.

But I’m not interested in teaching women how to outsource their personality to ChatGPT.

I acknowledge that AI can genuinely help you research, clarify, brainstorm, organize, repurpose and execute faster, but I can also see clearly now what it can't do and the adverse impact it has when everyone looks and sounds the same.

My AI policy is anchored around helping you keep your vision, strategy, judgment, stories and actual HUMAN voice at the center of your work.

Most importantly, I don’t want someone finishing Foundations and thinking:

Great. Now I need to go learn how to sell.

I want the system turned ON.

So by the time you have completed the program:

  • Your offer exists.
  • Your messaging is being used.
  • Your email system is automated.
  • Your content is bringing people into the system.
  • You’re making sales offers.
  • You’re learning from the response.
  • You’re adjusting.
  • You’re doing the business.

Because eventually you have to stop reading the recipe and turn on the stove.

That’s is the focus of this week’s Mindset to Market podcast: what my clients have taught me about building a business that actually works, and how those lessons are changing Foundations.

And I’m also bringing back my free Build the System That Pays You Back masterclass in September.

I’m going to show you exactly how these pieces work together, how to identify what’s missing in your own client-attraction system, and where to focus your energy instead of throwing more content at the internet.

💖 Dates and class schedule announced this week!

Enrollment for the next Foundations cohort will open in mid-September.

But for now, I’m curious:

Which of these four business foundations feels weakest in your business right now → offer, messaging, email or content?

I booked time this week for a handful of discovery calls to connect with members of this community.

Hit reply and tell me what you're working and where you're feeling stuck and I'll be happy to share my best advice on a next step.

And I hope to see you online this fall in one or more of my classes!

Deborah

PS. For anyone in the NYC or Tristate area working on sales messaging or pitching yourself for opportunities - Please join me in person on September 16th from 10 - 2 pm for the next Magnetic Messaging workshop (workshop, lunch & templates included). Hit reply and I'll send you more details.

Episode #136 of the Mindset to Market Podcast - Own Your Genius, Visibility with Christina Vidovich

Back in January, I went to a podcast conference and met a woman named Christina Vidovich. We clicked immediately and started plotting dreamy collaborations. I was rolling solo, so the "new conference friend" vibes were welcome. Christina is the founder of Women Getting Visible, and as we started talking about our work, we realized there was a LOT of overlap between what she teaches about visibility and what I teach about messaging, marketing and sales. It could have ended there, but we stayed...

Hello friend and happy Tuesday! Whether you listened to the Digital Product Blueprint series this summer or not, here's what I hope you take away from all this content I made about it: One long-term digital asset can transform your business. Of course, the point of the series is to help you be strategic, rather than reactionary. The last thing we want is to create something in a rush, just to start all over again next season when there's a brand new trend. I spent the three days almost...
