What? Now I have to become a content creator?

A good friend of mine just graduated from a three-year Yoga Therapy program at Kripalu.

Three years learning how to deeply help people.

And what was the BIG conversation among her graduating class?

They're all dreading having to "sell" their services.

β€œYou mean... now we have to become content creators if we want to have viable businesses?”

My stomach knotted up listening to her.

I could FEEL the collective dread. πŸ˜‚

Because they want to practice Yoga Therapy.

They want to help people.

They did not spend three years studying so they could stare at a blank Canva template wondering what the hell they're supposed to post on Instagram today.

And yet...

It's now 2026.

If you're building a business around your expertise, people need a way to FIND you.

You're going to need to learn how to market and sell.

And yes, you're probably going to need to create some kind of content.

But it doesn't have to suck.

This conversation took me straight back to 2006 when I graduated from my own health coaching program.

I was handed what was essentially a business plan and sent out into the world to get clients.

And I remember thinking:

How the HELL am I supposed to do that?

I was quite passionate about helping people.

I just had no idea how I was going to consistently FIND enough of them to make this a viable business.

Fortunately, I had a background in marketing to fall back on.

And almost 20 years later, helping other women solve that exact problem has become a huge part of my work.

It's also why I'm making a change to my Foundations program.

I originally built the program around four core pillars:

β†’ YOU + the business that fits your actual life
β†’ Your signature offer
β†’ Your audience + messaging
β†’ Your customer journey + sales system

My clients built those things and launched their offers.

They got results.

And then they asked:

β€œOkay. Now what do I do every week to KEEP this going?”

There it was.

The missing pillar:

A sustainable sales + content plan.

Not β€œpost like a psychopath.”

Not β€œmake mini feature films once a week.”

Not β€œlearn to speak influencer.”

A plan for consistently sharing your expertise, growing your audience and making offers in a way that fits YOU.

I unpacked the 5 pillars of a successful solopreneur sales system, including what I've learned from watching my own clients build, launch and market their offers, on today's episode of Mindset to Market.

And this conversation is going to be a BIG part of what I'm talking about this month.

On September 22 at 7 PM ET, I'm teaching a brand-new free class:

The Solopreneur Sales System

If you're great at what you do but overwhelmed by the idea of turning all that expertise into a business you then have to constantly market...

I made this one for you.

I'll send you the registration link this week.

For now, listen to today's episode.

And maybe take a little pressure off yourself.

We don't need to win Instagram. (thankfully 😬)

We need a business and marketing system we can actually sustain.

I'm rooting for you all the way,

Deborah

PS. Look for an email with the subject: Upcoming Classes later this week. That will have a few different ways we can connect!

A woman gazing out over a sunset on a lake dreaming about the four foundational pillars of her online business success.

[TLDR - Foundations is getting a Glow-Up! My 5 pillars below] When I first learned how to build online courses, I had just come off more than a decade of running a plant-based catering company. To be clear: I was NOT the chef. I was the CEO, CFO, marketing department, operations director, occasional delivery driver and person most likely to be frantically texting someone at 6am because we were short three cases of kale. 😰 But I knew that business inside and out. So, when we closed, I decided...

Episode #136 of the Mindset to Market Podcast - Own Your Genius, Visibility with Christina Vidovich

Back in January, I went to a podcast conference and met a woman named Christina Vidovich. We clicked immediately and started plotting dreamy collaborations. I was rolling solo, so the "new conference friend" vibes were welcome. Christina is the founder of Women Getting Visible, and as we started talking about our work, we realized there was a LOT of overlap between what she teaches about visibility and what I teach about messaging, marketing and sales. It could have ended there, but we stayed...
