I've started cutting back my tomato plants this weekend and harvesting what feels like an absurd amount of food.

Then last night I made a giant vat of vegetable soup with peppers, carrots, tomatoes and broccoli (in a miso curry base, 😋) and froze it to eat of the winter.

Note: I made a huge mess trying to use the vacuum seal gadget that my husband bought, and it actually took me longer than I thought it would to do it all, but once I was done I felt like a champion.

As I was cooking, it occurred to me that this is basically what we all want from our businesses:

A system that keeps producing something we can actually use.

But it doesn't start with the harvest.

I think that's where a LOT of solopreneurs get tripped up with marketing.

You start with:

What should I post?​
​Should I make Reels or write my newsletter?​
​When can I start running ads?

But content isn't where I start when I'm building a sales system.

This is part of what I'm teaching in my free live masterclass, The Solopreneur Sales System, on September 22nd.

I'm going to walk you through the order I use instead:

It starts with YOU.​
Your belief in the business you're building, and supporting the actual human being who has to show up and sell it.

Then: Your Offer.​
Getting crystal clear on what you're selling, who it's for and why someone would want it.

Next comes Messaging.​
Learning how to communicate the value of that offer in a way that actually helps the right people recognize themselves in it.

Then you build the System.​
The simple tech and customer journey that gives interested people somewhere to go and allows you to nurture them toward becoming clients.

And only THEN, we work on content.

Because now your content has somewhere to lead people.

It's a little like running water through the pipes of a house. Once the plumbing is connected, you can turn on the water and see where the leaks are.

If you start pouring water everywhere before you've built the pipes...well. 😂
