Every woman in the room stood up

I'm fresh off my trip to Minneapolis for the Women Getting Visible conference where, despite travel delays in both directions and an unexpected detour into the world's largest veteran motorcycle conference, I had the chance to work with some powerful women!

Authors. Coaches. Speakers. Small business owners.

All who have built successful careers and helped countless people.

That's who was in the room when I asked a series of questions that I knew would make them feel uncomfortable.

I'd like to ask you to please stand up if...

You've ever discounted your offer?

Questioned your value?

Cringed after posting promo content?

Felt nervous sharing your prices?

Wondered whether you were truly good enough to charge for your work?

Secretly judged someone making it all look easy...

I knew I'd get most of them standing by the end...

But what I did NOT expect was that within seconds, every woman in the room was out of her chair.

Not a few brave souls.

All of them.

That moment has been playing over again and again in my mind.

It reminded me:

1) Confidence isn't something we get by wishing for it.

We actually build our confidence by standing up, sharing our truth and then taking action before we feel completely ready.

2) Self-doubt isn't a sign you're doing something wrong.

We all feel it. It's actually a very normal part of building something meaningful.

3) Nobody is coming to hand you anything.

These women weren't waiting until they felt perfectly confident.

They were standing up to take action despite the discomfort.

I came home feeling hopeful, energized, and more committed than ever to helping women communicate their value and get paid for the work they're here to do.

Riding that wave of positivity, I want to share a few updates from my corner of the world...

🎧 New Podcast Episode #125: How to Own Your Voice, Do the Shadow Work & Show Up Unapologetically with Megan Hamilton, TEDx Speaker Coach & Impact Witch

My friend Megan Hamilton, the Impact Witch - a TEDx Speaker Coach and intuitive business baddy who helps people craft talks that truly move audiences and create new opportunities - is the featured guest this week on Mindset to Market.

If you've ever dreamed of speaking on stages, or simply communicating your ideas with more confidence, Megan drops some incredibly practical wisdom in this conversation, including the importance of intuition, shadow work and plain old practice.

One of my biggest takeaways: great speakers aren't born knowing what to say. They prepare, practice, refine, and trust themselves enough to step up when the opportunity comes.

I Was a Guest on the Sober & Lit Podcast

I am so honored and humbled to have recently joined the inspiring ladies of the Sober & Lit podcast, Susan Larkin and Ruby Williams, for a conversation about business, clarity, self-worth, and what changes when we stop outsourcing our confidence.

It was a thoughtful conversation about getting honest with ourselves, assessing energy and making choices that may seem hard at first but that deliver incredible payoff in the long run. It's something I think many entrepreneurs can relate to.

It's also the first time I've shared openly about my personal path to eliminating alcohol from my intake. Spoiler: I'm still the Mocktail queeeeeeen!

You can Listen Here to the full episode!

Now.... I'd love to hear from you:

Before I say anything else, I want to take a moment to remember what Memorial day is actually for. It's to honor the legacy and bravery of men and women who went off to defend our freedoms and didn't come home, and for the many families who never stopped waiting. These freedoms we move through so casually every single day are because someone else paid for it, and I don't take that for granted. Several members of my family including my grandfather and 2 uncles were enlisted during wartime and...

Jenn Debarge Goonan is the PR expert on the Mindset to Market Podcast hosted by marketing strategist, Deborah C. Smith

A PR expert once pitched a story to a reporter in 6 sentences. No media kit or fancy credentials. No long-winded backstory. Just six clear, purposeful sentences. And it worked. Now here's the thing. Before you ever write that pitch, there's a step most people skip entirely. And it's probably why so many of us think "I'm not ready yet" when it comes to getting visible beyond our own social media bubbles. What is that step? Getting radically clear on your message. In this week's episode of...
