I got Shark Tanked at the buffet...

A few years ago, I was at a networking event, balancing a tiny paper plate of cheese and crackers in one hand and extending the other while making the rounds.

You know the drill.

Someone asked me what I did. I gave my usual answer.

Something about coaching. Marketing. Systems. Digital offers. Solopreneurs.

They nodded politely, then said:

"Okay, but what do you actually DO?"

Okay... rude.

I clarified.

Or at least I thought I did.

Then they asked:

"Okay... but what problem does that solve?"

At this point I was starting to feel mildly interrogated.

I answered again.

Then came:

"So, how do clients know when they're ready to hire you?"

Followed by:

"What makes your approach different?"

Somewhere around question number five I remember thinking:

Who invited Mark Cuban to this event? 😆

At the time, I thought this person was being a little too intense.

Looking back?

They were exposing a problem I couldn't yet see.

I knew exactly what I did.

But I wasn't communicating it clearly.

I was describing all the ways I could help people.

But, I wasn't clearly communicating the transformation I sell.

And now I see this everywhere, all the time, with entrepreneurs.

You're posting consistently.

Creating really cool content.

Showing up week after week.

But it's not translating to increased sales.

Spoiler: It's not because the algorithm hates you.

But it very well might be, that just like me circling around that cheese board trying to avoid getting eaten alive by Mrs. Wonderful, your offer isn't clear enough to the people you're trying to reach.

That's exactly what I'm unpacking in this week's podcast episode:

🎙️ Ep. 126: 4 Signs You're Marketing an Unclear Offer

Inside the episode, I break down:

✅ Why posting more content won't fix an unclear offer

✅ The hidden cost of having too many ideas

✅ How inconsistent messaging confuses potential buyers

✅ Why disconnected business assets make everything harder

Here's the truth:

No marketing strategy can sell what people don't understand.

And if this conversation hits close to home, I've created a short Signature Offer Mini-Course that walks you through the exact process I use with clients to clarify their offer before building funnels, automations, and content systems.

Check it out here → Soul-Aligned Systems mini-course

Clarity comes first. Always.

As life-long New Yorker (LGK), I'm in hyper-team-spirit mode right now and I'm rooting for you!

I hope something from this episode supports your journey of simple business growth.

With love,

Deborah

P.S. SummerCamp for Solopreneurs is coming back in July in a whole new way! More details next week.

P.S.S. Answer this question: Could a total stranger land on your Instagram (or SM of choice) page right now and explain what you sell to the person standing next to them?

Or like me, would they rudely subject you to the Shark Tank treatment and force you to prove your worth right there at the crudité table??

If you hesitated even a little… this week's episode is for you.

I'm fresh off my trip to Minneapolis for the Women Getting Visible conference where, despite travel delays in both directions and an unexpected detour into the world's largest veteran motorcycle conference, I had the chance to work with some powerful women! Authors. Coaches. Speakers. Small business owners. All who have built successful careers and helped countless people. That's who was in the room when I asked a series of questions that I knew would make them feel uncomfortable. I'd like to...

Before I say anything else, I want to take a moment to remember what Memorial day is actually for. It's to honor the legacy and bravery of men and women who went off to defend our freedoms and didn't come home, and for the many families who never stopped waiting. These freedoms we move through so casually every single day are because someone else paid for it, and I don't take that for granted. Several members of my family including my grandfather and 2 uncles were enlisted during wartime and...

A PR expert once pitched a story to a reporter in 6 sentences. No media kit or fancy credentials. No long-winded backstory. Just six clear, purposeful sentences. And it worked. Now here's the thing. Before you ever write that pitch, there's a step most people skip entirely. And it's probably why so many of us think "I'm not ready yet" when it comes to getting visible beyond our own social media bubbles. What is that step? Getting radically clear on your message. In this week's episode of...
