Hi Reader, Back at St. Mary's Catholic school (where I attended pre-K through 7.5th grades*), there was a point each year when one of two things happened. Either your grey and white plaid skirt still fit... ...or you got sent to stand in the line. A nun sat in the middle of the lobby with a long felt tape, and anyone who had outgrown their uniform lined up to be measured in front of basically the whole school. This ranked between "mortifying" and "please, floor open up and swallow me." Looking back, it all makes me laugh. I detested those uniforms, but they weren't even the problem. I wasn't uncomfortable because of the uniform. I was uncomfortable because I'd outgrown it. I’ve noticed that the same thing happens in business. We outgrow the way we talk about our work. Your offers, messaging and sales copy can fall behind as your business evolves. Then when it comes time to sell, it feels just as cringy as wearing the same pleated skirt and knee-high socks for 9 years. So, last week in the Digital Product Blueprint series, we talked about connecting your digital asset to a customer journey. This week, we’re taking the next step and talking about how to position your offer. Because people can't buy what they don't understand. The tricky part is...it's incredibly easy to outgrow your messaging without even realizing it. Think about it. If you continue to show up and work: ✅ Your expertise grows. ✅ Your results improve. ✅ Your offers become more valuable. But if your messaging is still describing the business you had even just a year ago, it's going to feel misaligned when you try to launch and sell something. Here's how you know it's happening: People continue to like and respond to your content but never take the next step… ... you go to make a Reel or write an email and get stuck on what to say ... you spend hours debating how to describe why your offer is different. If those feel a bit too familiar, this episode is for you. 🎙 Episode 134: Position Your Offer So People Understand Why It Matters Inside, we’ll talk about:
If you’re following along, don’t forget to complete this week’s workbook exercise before moving on to the final episode. 🎧 You can get the Digital Product Blueprint checklist here: Download and Make a Copy And, just a word of encouragement: If your messaging feels messy, don't dwell on it. The good news is that this is fixable. 👉🏻 Take time this summer to clarify your positioning and update your message. You can ditch the dreaded uniform altogether and get a whole new wardrobe that fits you much better. Start by listening to today's episode. xo, Deborah P.S. Hi Reader, Over the past few weeks, I've had several people say some variation of: "I started listening to your Digital Product series, but I'm not caught up yet." Well, guest what my friend? That's completely okay. In fact, it's exactly why I built it this way. I know that a project will only get done when you have the capacity to complete the tasks, so this was never meant to be a six-week sprint. Hi Reader, This weekend my husband and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary! If you've ever met Doug, you know he's one part high-tech security analyst, one part hippy rockstar drummer and ALL parts adorable green thumb. 🍃 It's because of him that I get all the good garden footage. This is four years ago on our honeymoon. 🥹 Reflecting back on the past few years, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude... Not only for my him, but also for this business, the incredible people I’ve met and the clients I...
Happy Sunday, my friend! Whether you're indulging in deep summer heat and an abundance fresh farm-stand veggies, or you're already preparing for your kids' back-to-school days, this is a powerful week to plan ahead. Personally, I am celebrating three things. One, I made a carrot cake last night with carrots from my own garden and thought I won the British Baking Show. 😂 Two, I get to celebrate my 4th wedding anniversary on Thursday by going for a hike with my husband, and then staying in a...
